  1. This One’s for You, Marilyn

After reading an article that Megan Fox is in the process getting her tattoo of Marilyn Monroe removed, my response was…WTF?! Megan Fox explained her reason in an interview. “I’m removing it. It is a negative character, as she suffered from personality disorders and was bipolar. I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life.”

First off, Marilyn Monroe is not a negative character because of her psychological disorders; it made her who she was. Marilyn is an American icon not only pop culture, but also for women in America. She was a successful model, actress, and singer in the 50’s, when women did not carry the same social status as men. If anything, she is a positive role model because she was able to achieve such great feats regardless of her personal struggles.

These days, any old person can have fame. I mean, just turn on your television and all you will see is reality shows full of ordinary people who are just funny to laugh at —but not really talented enough to look up to. Marilyn attained fame during a time that not any ol’ dude could become famous. She had talent. She had beauty. She had strength.

Lastly, one fun fact I love about Marilyn: she was a 120 lb., 5’5, and 36-24-34 woman. According to the Association of Model Agents, the “preferred” measurements for today’s model is size 0 or 00, 5’9, and 34-24-34. Marilyn would not have made the AMA cut if she were alive now, but her figure is far more beautiful than the twigs on the runways today.

Thank goodness there’s tattoo removal for you, Megan Fox. I don’t really think you should have a tattoo of Marilyn on your arm if you cannot appreciate her beauty anyways.

  2. Fallen Princesses by Dina Goldstein

I absolutely love how she incorporates reality into the the “perfect” lives of fairytale princesses. Shouldn’t we have been warned when we were young that these stories are not how our lives are going to turn out?
